Busseto, on the trail of Giuseppe Verdi:
(half day trip)

Departure (time to be determined) from the hotel by private coach and arrival in Roncole Verdi, birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi, a short distance away from Busseto. Guided tour of Giuseppe Verdi’s birthplace. The building had been rented by Verdi’s grandparents as an inn since 1781, 30 years before the composer’s birth. Verdi was born here on 10 October 1813. You will then be taken on a guided tour of Villa Verdi in Sant’Agata, not far from Roncole, where the composer lived and worked for a many years and where he always returned after his long trips. Giuseppe Verdi bought Villa Verdi in 1848 and began living there in 1851, having chosen the building materials to alter and expand the original construction according to his own plan. You will also be able to enjoy a guided tour of the National Giuseppe Verdi Museum, housed in the splendid Villa Pallavicino, built in the 1520s and later expanded in the late 1600s and 1700s. The museum houses Verdi’s 27 works, depicted along the itinerary through reproductions of the original sets by Casa Ricordi, and a reconstruction of the 19th century rooms featuring Hayez’s collection of paintings. Return to Piacenza in the late afternoon.
