Visit to the city of Portofino
PORTOFINO:

Departure from the hotel by private coach (time to be determined). Arrival in Santa Margherita Ligure and time for breakfast by the sea. From here, departure by ferry in the direction of San Fruttuoso: set in a deep cove along the rugged coastline, reachable only by sea or by means of a steep trail, stands the famous Abbey of San Fruttuoso (entrance fee: €7.00). Situated in the terrestrial and marine park of Monte di Portofino, the Abbey has been a FAI property since 1983, when it was donated to the Italian National Trust by its erstwhile owners. The bay also boasts the famous statue of Christ of the Abysses, placed on the seabed in 1954 and restored in the 1990s.
We will board the ferry for Portofino at 12.30. After a 30 minutes’ sail, we will disembark and you can enjoy some free time for lunch and a walk around the city. “A small village that widens like a moon arch around this calm basin” – with these words the famous French writer Guy de Maupassant described this enchanting natural harbour during a trip to Italy. Located in the heart of the Tigullio area, within the Regional Natural Park of Portofino, the town is a renowned summer holiday resort and a favourite destination of the international jet-set.
At 16.00, we will departure by ferry in the direction of Santa Margherita Ligure. You will have some free time to stroll in the historical centre and along the sea, for an aperitif, or to relax on the beach. At 19.00, we will return by coach. Stop at a motorway service area for dinner and arrival at the hotel in the evening.
